Richard C. Ratcliff MA Rector from 1945 to 1961.

Father Ratcliff came to Whyke with his newly-married bride, Eunice, soon after World War II. During his time in the parish the church hall was built.

Father Ratcliff left in September 1961 to become Chaplain to St Margaret's School at Bushey, a public school for girls under the Clergy Orphan Fund. Father Ratcliff returned to the Diocese later to become Rector of Boxgrove.

When funds were being raised for the building of the Church Hall in 1959 the appeal was boosted by the sale of bricks upon which donors wrote their names.

One of those people was young Miss Susan Parritt - seen in the picture above. (In 2002 Susan was the first person to purchase a brick for the appeal to build an extension to the church itself).
